Recipe: Honey Garlic Salmon

If you have ever visited us at a farmer's market or trade show then you have probably heard us talk about how we cook with honey regularly.  However, if you're new to cooking with honey you may want some tips and recipes to get you started.  This year we are committed to bringing you many recipes, tips and even cooking videos to help demonstrate just how versatile honey can bee (sorry, I couldn't resist a bee pun!).  This is a delicious, quick and easy dish to prepare that's packed with flavor.  Be sure to leave us comments below if you have questions or try the recipe at home!

Ingredients for salmon:

4 salmon filets (approximately 6 oz. each)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1/4 tsp blackening seasoning

Ingredients for sauce:

4 tablespoons butter

3 cloves of garlic (finely minced)

1/2 cup of Crigger Farm honey

Instructions:

  1. Season salmon with salt, pepper, paprika, and blackening seasoning and set aside
  2. Heat pan to medium heat, add a tablespoon of butter to pan and let it melt
  3. Place salmon with skin side down. Allow to cook for 5-7 minutes until the bottom starts to get crispy. Flip and allow the other side to cook for about 6 minutes (or until done)
  4. While waiting for your salmon to cook, mince garlic and mix it together with 4 tablespoons of melted butter and 1/2 the honey. Set aside
  5. Flip salmon over once again so that the skin is face down, add the garlic honey sauce to the top of your salmon and continue to baste the salmon with the sauce. Do this for 1-2 minutes or until the salmon begins to caramelize
  6. Plate your fillets with any vegetable or rice and pour left over sauce from the pan over your salmon and enjoy!
